Naomi is a British artist living and working in Paris. Born and raised on the south coast of England, she became interested in art at an early age, encouraged and inspired by artists in her family.
In her practice since 2009, Naomi has specialised in colourful ‘liquid landscapes’, working primarily in acrylics. Her work centers around an exploration of colour and process, investigating the physical aspects making art.
The last works made have concentrated on creating unique aesthetic experiences and visual pleasures which rely heavily on both these factors. Naomi’s work plays on the idea that colour alone can be understood to represent life and to stimulate thought and emotion.
Naomi uses colour and expression to evoke feeling and convey meaning in her works. Heavily inspired by the abstract expressionist movement of the 1940’s and 50’s, Naomi’s work sits somewhere between the action painters desire for spontaneity and impulse and the colour field painters use of colour to produce contemplative and meditational responses in the viewer.
